Interactions of tagatose with the sugar metabolism are responsible for Phytophthora infestans growth inhibition

چکیده
Tagatose is a rare sugar metabolised by limited number of microorganisms that inhibits large spectrum phytopathogens. In particular, tagatose inhibited Phytophthora infestans growth and negatively affected mitochondrial processes. However, the possible effects on P. metabolism have not yet been investigated. The aim this study was to analyse impact in infestans, order better understand its mode action. with precise reprogramming carbohydrate involved decrease glucose, glucose-1-phosphate mannose content β-glucosidase activity. combination common sugars led three different responses highlighted antagonistic interactions. glucose partially attenuated inhibitory tagatose, while fructose fully impaired tagatose-mediated inhibition metabolite changes. Moreover, sucrose did attenuate effects, suggesting catabolism alteration glucose-related pathways contributed caused infestans. interactions were found be key action against growth, which may represent basis for further development as an eco-friendly fungicide.

متن کاملAnalysis of sterol metabolism in the pathogenic oomycetes Saprolegnia parasitica and Phytophthora infestans
The primary objective of this thesis was to investigate the sterol metabolism of two pathogenic oomycetes, specifically the processes of sterol synthesis and sterol acquisition in the fish pathogen Saprolegnia parasitica (Saprolegniales) and the plant pathogen Phytophthora infestans (Peronosporales). Furthermore, the effects of steroidal glycoalkaloids from Solanaceous plants, on P. infestans, ...

Transformation of the diploid oomycete plant pathogen Phytophthora infestans with antisense, sense, and promoter-less constructs of the coding sequence of the elicitin gene inf1 resulted in transcriptional silencing of both the transgenes and the endogenous gene. Since heterokaryons obtained by somatic fusion of an inf1-silenced transgenic strain and a wild-type strain displayed stable gene sil...

Active oxygen species (AOS) are responsible for triggering defense responses in plants. Respiratory burst oxidase homologs ( rboh genes) have been implicated in AOS generation. We have isolated two rboh cDNAs, NbrbohA and NbrbohB , from Nicotiana benthamiana leaves. NbrbohA was expressed constitutively at a low level and the transcripts were increased after mechanical stress of control leaf inf...
